The snow is falling here in Leland, North Carolina (a very rare occurrence), and I can’t help but to think back to the time, less than a week ago, when I was on a catamaran in the Caribbean sailing between St. Kitts and Nevis.
The IM Success Cruise with over 250 internet marketers and family/guests was a fantastic vacation and business seminar in one. This Friday, I’m holding a special episode of IM Success Radio to share what I learned that I’ll be implementing in my business.
But first, here are a few quick points that I thought I’d share with you right away.
During one of the 4 mastermind sessions, we all had the opportunity to ask a very specific question to help our business. Then anyone in the group who felt they could contribute a valuable answer came forward to offer their best solution.
Here are 3 of those great tips…
First, with the growth of using virtual assistants, outsourcing, and multiple-part project management, an today’s business owner needs to have an easy way to share files. This would also be a big help for those of us with multiple computers that we use frequently.
Donna Fox’s answer to this issue was a recommendation for GetDropBox.com. This works like a regular desktop folder, but when you drag files into it, they can be seen AND modified by anybody you give permission to. No more emailing attachments and wondering which version you’re working from. GetDropBox also saves previous versions of documents for easier back-tracking.
The next question centers around getting affiliates to actively promote your stuff. One of the Clickbank stars in the fitness industry, Vince DelMonte, suggests you offer the highest commission possible. By giving away 75% of the revenue, you’re better able to attract long term affiliate relationships. Meanwhile, you can offer less or 0% for purchases from that same customer.
Of course, money isn’t the only thing that drives affiliates – you should have a great product people are happy to recommend. But if you want to attract those affiliate marketers who can send you constant traffic, your commission rate needs to stand out.
As an experiment, I’m thinking of converting most (if not all) of my front end products from 33-50% commissions to 75% commissions during the month of February. Let me know what you think about that with a comment below.
The final quandary for now is how can you use publicity without paying an agent or spending a ton of money on press releases that may never get read.
One of the marketing celebrities on the cruise was Paul Hartunian. This is the guy who sold the Brooklyn Bridge 1 square inch at a time in the 1980s. He’s one of the leading experts on using publicity to get exposure. So his answer was a recommendation for a site called HelpAReporter.com.
Basically, this service is a daily digest of reporters, authors, and bloggers around the world (usually in the US) who are in the specific need of an expert to interview. They may be writing an article, a book, or preparing a video segment. The digest from HARO gives you the exact question and contact information for sharing your answers. By doing this, you’re able to get free publicity and become a more recognized expert in your field.
